Opening hours

The library is open to external users by appointment:

Monday to Thursday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

With its comprehensive holdings and services the library of the Max Planck Institute for Legal History and Legal Theory primarily supports the scientific staff of the institute. External users especially profit from our digital ressources (Digital Library). Additionally, the library is opened to all scholarship holders and scientific guests of the institute.

Other interested persons can use the library. However due to the limited number of workplaces in the reading room, external users have to prove that they have a serious scientific interest which only can be met by the use of the specialised library holdings. We therefore recommend you to submit the application form early and kindly ask you to read our regulations for library use, which can be found in the download section below.
