Introduction into Traditions of Legal Historical Research in Germany and at the MPI

The brief introduction into traditions of doing legal historical research in Germany and at the Max-Planck- Institute is directed especially to researchers and students that have recently joined the MPI and would like to know a bit more about the way legal history has been done in Germany in the past, about the role the MPI played in this history and about the projects developed at the MPI since its foundation in 1964. The aim of this introduction is to provide a better understanding of the work of the MPI in the past and in the present, and the expectations this history and present creates in the wider research community.
